Description
Latin Name: Daucus carota ssp. sativus
Sowing: The carrot is sown almost all year round, in warm areas with mild winters, while in cold areas in spring.
Harvest: Fresh carrots are harvested after 3- 6 months, and after they have acquired a diameter of 2.5- 3.5cm.
The carrot is a root vegetable, usually orange, although there are purple, black, red, white and yellow varieties, which are all domesticated forms of the wild Daucus carota.
