Latin name: Prunus vulgaris
Flowering: February- March
Dimensions: Maximum height 5- 8m./ Maximum earl diameter 4- 6m.
Deciduous fruit tree, resistant to cold climates. Its flowering resembles to cherry trees (pink- white flowers) and has a reddish trunk. It is considered to be a type of cherry tree that produces sour cherries, which are commonly used for sweets and juices. We distinguish them from cherries due to their reddish color. Sour cherries contain more acids (citric and malic) than the normal ones, so they are sourish. Like cherry trees, it has serrated leaves with visible ribs and short fruiting period in mid-May. It grows in almost all types of soils except clay ones and soils with high humidity.
