Description
Latin name: Ziziphus jujuba
Flowering: April- May
Dimensions: Maximum height 7- 10m./ Maximum diameter 3- 4m.
Deciduous tree with hanging branches and shape that resembles to a sculpture. It has compound leaves, ovate, glossy and leathery, with spiky stipules. Its fruits are fleshy with sourish taste, which are green at first, later yellow and reddish in autumn. It usually thrives in mild climates but also in the north where olives may live. It doesn’t have any special requirements, except that it needs well- drained soils and prefers sunny planting sites.
