Description
Latin name: Prunus persica var. Nectarina
Flowering: February- March
Dimensions: Maximum height 7- 8m./ Maximum earl diameter 6- 7m.
Deciduous, fruit tree with lanceolate, light green leaves and, usually, pink flowers. It bears a better quality of fruits when it lives in areas where the summers are hot and winters mild cold. The physical characteristics of the tree are identical to Peach. Τhe only difference is in the paring of the fruits, as it is leathery (and not fluffy as the Peaches). The cultivation is the same. Nectarines are easily influenced by climatic conditions, which mainly affect the fruit peel. It usually bears fruit in July, depending on the variety. It grows better in deep and sandy, loamy soils with good drainage and low in calcium.
