Basil is an annual, aromatic, herbaceous plant and one of the most famous, as it adorns our balconies and gardens. It has green foliage and, depending on the variety, different leaf. It prefers semi- shaded places, bright, but without direct long sun exposure. It also needs protection from winter frosts. It prefers fertile and well- drained soils.
