Perennial, herbaceous, flowering species. Its name derives from the latin word “valere” meaning “health” or “power” and refers to the therapeutic use of the plant. It is native to Greece, mainly to the north and mainland. Its stem is tubular in shape and fluffy. It flowers in summer with small, pinkish white flowers in umbrella formation at the top of the plant. Its flowering peaks are collected in the summer, while the root is collected in autumn (from September to October). It prefers moist soils, fertile and sunny. Valerian is resistant to various weather conditions and diseases.
