The white oak is an evergreen species of oak in the form of a tree or shrub, with large and fairly slow growth. It has hard, spiny leaves with green and glossy surface on the top and fluffy underside. In spring it produces small yellowish flowers and in summer it produces acorns that are green when ripe and brownish red just before they fall. It thrives in deep and well- drained soils, but it also tolerates calcareous soils. Resistant to coastal climates and with great resistance to cold.
