Description
Latin Name: Cyclamen sp.
Flowering: September- February
Dimensions: Maximum height 10 to 35cm.
It is a perennial herbaceous plant, quite widespread throughout Europe, as well as in Greece. We find it in nature in its wild form, as well as cultivated. It is a bulbous species with low height, almost like other related plants. It has many shades of flowers (pink, red, white, bicolor and others) and beautiful, heart- shaped, green leaves, which may have other shades (gray, silver or khaki) that create “watermarks” on the green. It blooms in autumn, until the end of winter, while in summer the above- ground part dries and only the underground part remains. If we want more flowering, we remove the dried flowers from their stem. It has no special soil requirements, as long as it is planted in semi- shaded spots, protected from the wind and the intense sunshine.
