Description
Latin name: Chamaerops excelsa or trachycarpus fortunei
Flowering: June- July
Dimensions: Maximum height 10- 12m./ Maximum earl diameter 3m.
It is considered to be the most durable palm, because it lives also in northern climates. It has a central, intensively hairy trunk that does not branch and does not germinate on the base. Its leaves are palmately- lobed, bright, dark green above and plush on the underside with little or no spiny stems. It has rich axillary panicles with a form of cob in summer, with small orange- yellow flowers and small, round, blue- grey fruits. It is fast growing in moist soils and slow in the drained ones. It prefers full sun.
